THE EPISCOPAL CHURCH WOMEN

 WHO WE ARE
We are Episcopal Church Women of all ages, ethnic origins and socioeconomic backgrounds who hold a variety of views. However, the common denominator of our members is the love of God and the wish to do His work.

Mission – Centered in congregations, the Episcopal Church Women (ECW) empowers women to do Christ’s ministry in the world.

Vision –Our vision for all women of the Episcopal Church is that we become a vibrant blend of all ages, coming together as a peacemaking, healing art of the Church. We aspire to be a God spark – shining and sharing the love of Christ.

Role – The Roll of the National Board of ECW is to:

1. Model and share best practice in Communication, programming, leadership, and governance.

2. Develop, support, and inspire leaders at all levels: local, diocesan, provincial, national.

3. Represent and build support for ECW in the wider church and the world.

All women of the St. James are considered members of ECW, but not all are active members.

The women of St. James meet the third Saturday of the month at 10:00 am unless otherwise posted in the Sunday bulletin. They enjoy breakfast and fellowship together.

There is a short business meeting to discuss projects the members are working on or plan.

ECW has traditionally held several fundraisers during the year, contributing the proceeds to charity and various church needs.

ECW – Edna Hermes-President

The ECW met on June 20, 2009 at ll:00 AM  at the home of Edna Hermes.  Present were  Doris Fitzpatrick,  Sandy Richards, Sue Beithon, Etsuko Schulenberg, LLew Adams, Linda Waring and Edna Hermes. There was a short meeting before a luncheon, as some had other commitments to attend to.

The treasurer, Sandy Richards, reported that she is still waiting on check to be printed, as well as statements etc.   The checking account shows a balance of $954.59 and the savings has $1,314.77.  The check for the griddles has not been written as yet.  Sandy offered to check into what CD's will be paying in interest. Name tags were discussed and several offered to look into this project.

Linda moved and Llew seconded that $300.00 go from the ECW to the Church for renovations, such as the painting and updating of the undercroft. Motion carried.   We then adjourned for the luncheon as most had to leave by 12:00 noon.

ECW will meet on July 18, 2009 at 10:00 am.
